Wyoming Elk Area 091 covers portions of the Bighorn Basin and Washakie Wilderness in Hot Springs and Fremont counties. The unit transitions from the sage and juniper terrain of the lower basin into timbered canyon country on the western Bighorn Mountain slopes. Elk use both the foothill zones and the higher forested terrain depending on season and weather patterns.
