Where to Find Elk in Area 90
Elk in Area 90 use the timbered slopes and meadow systems along the Upper Greys River corridor in Bridger-Teton NF.
Early Season
Bulls hold in the spruce-fir timber and aspen parks between 7,500 and 9,500 feet along the upper Greys River and its tributaries. The timbered ridges on both sides of the river valley hold rutting bulls in September. Wallows and rub lines concentrate in the dark timber benches.
Rifle Season
Snow pushes elk into the mid-elevation timber (7,000-8,500 feet) along the main Greys River drainage. The timbered benches and parks above the river corridor hold staging herds. Focus on the tributary drainages feeding into the Greys River from both the Wyoming Range and Salt River Range.
