Frequently Asked Questions

Can I hunt from the reservoirs?

The reservoirs and immediate water are not great pronghorn habitat, but the benches and breaks surrounding them are excellent. Boat access is not typically useful for pronghorn — stick to land-based hunting.

How's the trout fishing?

Excellent. The North Platte below Alcova (Grey Reef stretch) is a world-class trout fishery. Many hunters pack rods for an afternoon between hunts.

Any safety concerns with reservoir traffic?

Reservoir recreation mostly winds down by pronghorn season opener in October. Occasional boat traffic and weekend campers near marinas — just be aware and shoot safely.
