Unit White's Valley

Access in White's Valley is controlled entirely through the private ranch draw. All hunting occurs on private deeded ground — public land access is not available within this unit's designated area. Successful applicants coordinate directly with the ranch for access arrangements.

Deer concentrate along the valley's irrigated hayfields and bordering sagebrush benches in early season. Foothill draws and rocky outcroppings offer shade and security cover during midday hours. Rutting bucks cruise open flats between field edges and hill-country bedding areas in late October and early November.

Because White's Valley is a private-land draw, hunters work directly with the landowner or ranch manager to plan their hunt. Glass from elevated vantage points along field margins at first and last light to locate mature bucks before approaching.

The glass-and-stalk method excels here — the open valley floor allows hunters to spot bucks at distance and execute precise approach routes using terrain breaks. Wind direction is critical; valley thermals typically pull down-canyon in the morning and reverse by midday.
