Unit Green Canyon

Deer are most concentrated in the mid-elevation aspen and oak brush zone between 6,500 and 8,500 feet. The main canyon corridor holds deer year-round due to permanent water and dense cover. Side drainages branching off the main canyon are less pressured and consistently hold mature bucks that avoid the main canyon traffic.

Hunt the side drainages rather than the main canyon bottom to avoid concentrating pressure. Glass the oak brush and aspen slopes from mid-canyon vantage points in the early morning. As October approaches still-hunting slowly through the dense oak brush during calm mornings produces close encounters. Archery hunters benefit from the main canyon's consistent water flow for ambush setups.
