Fort Ranch mule deer follow predictable patterns on the private range, utilizing irrigated pastures and adjacent native brush for forage and cover. Mature bucks bed in draws and brushy hillsides during the day, moving to field edges and open benches to feed in low-light periods.

Key terrain features include any creek-bottom riparian zones, oak and maple draws on hillsides, and sage benches above the irrigated lower ground. These transition zones are where bucks spend the most time during daylight and offer the best glassing and stalk opportunities.

Hunting Fort Ranch is a collaborative process with the landowner. The ranch manager will typically help orient hunters to current buck locations and suggest productive glassing vantage points. Plan to glass extensively from elevated positions before attempting any stalks.
