Allen Ranch pronghorn utilize the ranch's open sage and grass-dominated terrain, concentrating near available water sources and flat open country where their exceptional eyesight provides early warning of predators and hunters alike. Work with the ranch manager before the hunt to identify current herd locations and active water sources.

West-desert pronghorn herds are mobile — herds may shift across miles of open range in response to forage availability and human disturbance. Pre-hunt glassing trips or phone consultations with the ranch manager can dramatically improve hunting efficiency.

Allen Ranch's private access means hunters work directly with the ranch, eliminating competition concerns. The hunting strategy centers on glassing open terrain from elevated positions, identifying a mature buck, and executing a careful stalk using whatever terrain cover exists.

In the nearly flat west-desert environment, hunters may need to rely on the prone-crawl stalk using sagebrush for cover, moving only when the buck's head is down grazing. The relatively tame nature of private-land pronghorn that have not been pressured can make close approaches more achievable than on public land.
