Where to Find Mule Deer in Unit 78
Unit 78 is centered on the White River Valley — one of Nevada's longest isolated valleys, running nearly 100 miles north-south with BLM land throughout. Deer concentrate in the foothill transitions on both sides of the valley.
Grant Range East Foothills (West of Valley)
The Grant Range rises to 11,239 ft at Arc Dome — its eastern foothills above White River Valley hold PJ-covered slopes with good deer populations. Access via county roads off US-93 from Lund.
Quinn Canyon Range (Southeast)
The Quinn Canyon Range in the southern portion of Unit 78 is BLM land with rugged canyon topography and resident deer populations. Less pressure than ranges closer to main highways.
White River Wash Corridor
The White River Wash runs the length of the valley floor — deer use riparian willow and cottonwood pockets for thermal cover and water. Early morning and evening hunting along the wash can be productive.
