Where to Find Bighorn Sheep in Unit 46AE

Desert bighorn in Unit 46AE use the steep, volcanic ridges and rocky escape terrain throughout the Peloncillo Mountains. This is classic desert sheep country — all rock, cactus, and sheer cliff faces.

Upper Rocky Ridgelines (5,000–6,500 ft)

Rams use the highest rocky terrain for security, bedding on ledges and cliff-face benches with all-around visibility. Glass from opposing drainages in early morning before thermals come up.

How to Hunt Bighorn Sheep in Unit 46AE

Unit 46AE bighorn hunting is a spot-and-stalk exercise in one of the most remote corners of Arizona. Most successful hunters spend 10–14 days on the mountain. Physical conditioning and precision shooting are prerequisites.
